If I've understood this correctly, crucial distro Central Bazaar seem to have got its hands on a handful of these knockout 12s by Infant Tree affiliate Lou Pennington's The Outsert project, self-released a couple of years ago in highly limited number but seemingly to little recognition. Hopefully the wider distribution helps change fortunes, for this is high grade cerebral techno action, hyper-detailed in that SND/Autechre like manner but with a dubby, ocassionaly industrial physicality that feels like it might have got the Weatherall/Tenniswood nod of approval. Those happy to paint in broader strokes might be content with labeling this IDM, but that isn't exactly what we call Beatrice Dillon, another smart-thinking contemporary producer whose happy to keep you guessing, while Pennington's connection with the outre-sounds of Infant Tree are evident in the overall complexity of the sound design, most notably in sonorous shimmer that underpins closer 'Out Use'. Don't let the mistakes of 2022 roll over into 2025 - i.e. sleep no longer.
