Smartly packaged collection of what Mecanica have labelled ‘techno-pop’, which might be best understood as describing the American counterpart to European minimal wave/synth pop/cold wave. In a sense you know what you’re gonna get with this stuff even when you don’t recognise the names involved - a little fruity, a little goth, a little melancholy, and a good few bangers youre not sure how you didn’t know about them before. As per, a lot of this material usually represents the artist in questions only recorded material, and often makes you wonder why when it’s so good. Of particular note in this instance are the two tracks from Doppler Effect (no, not that one) and Hidden Agenda. Interesting to hear the US derivation of this sound, which mostly seems to conjure the idea of a displaced Sheffield rebuilt in the American heartlands. Multiple Steel Cities! Can you imagine such a dream? Well, it’s here for you to buy now. Great DJ material this.
Limited edition of 500 copies on double vinyl and gatefold sleeve.
