Vital reissue of Cincinnati straightedge from that 1984 sweetspot that also saw related local action from Zero Boys and fellow teenage titans, Squirrel Bait. Big Minor Threat/Teen Idles/Dischord-off brand tip here, machine gun drumming, stuttering bar chord riffing, suburban dissatisfaction, all the key signifiers arranged in exactly the best manner, tumbling head forward into the pit/wall/abyss. Hyper melodic, too, almost radically so. You get the original The Contradiction EP here plus a flipside made up of previously unreleased tracks, instructively titled Eighty Four. Which is exactly right back where it sends you, a Proustian rush of rage and possibility. Teenage dreams so hard to beat.
