Been out a minute but just getting round to writing about it now... Every year a record emerges from the punk underground and hits a wider a note. Speed Kills might just be that record for 2020 (though i'd welcome more than one). Bubblegum Oi! for a post-Grenfell world? Could just be powerpop glam punk par excellence. Either way, there's hooks for days, lyrics that are both tender and rage, a little gang vocal action. What more do you need? 'All Along the Uxbridge Rd' has been a hit in waiting since it came out on 7" last year (it's that handclap beat), but it's not the full story here - you've got the first wave ragers, but there's also a few pub rocking drinkers ballads that broaden the palette. And anyone who doesn't shed a tear to the Bill Bragg-isms of 'Grenfell Forever' need not worry about COVID19 cos they're already dead. The big stage beckons for these boys, if they can be arsed with it (fair enough if not).
