PRE-ORDER - EXPECTED 16th OCTOBER
LIMITED EDITION DELUXE EDITION W/BONUS 7" (WOE SHARED EXCLUSIVE)
STANDARD BLACK VINYL
CD
Initially released in 1997 and out of print for over two decades, Movietone's seminal second album, Day And Night, is afforded its first ever reissue on 16th October. An overlooked diamond of British 90s music, it stands as an expertly crafted example of atmospheric, quietly composed post-rock, wandering and meandering as a river might, then blooming in a series of hushed climaxes that reference everything from 60s British folk to musique concrète. The results speak to one of the most distinctive bands of their generation.
Alongside the likes of Flying Saucer Attack, Third Eye Foundation, Crescent and Hood, Movietone were born out of the collective of like-minded groups that gathered around the Bristol-based Planet Records label in the early 90s. In recent years, the band have gained an increasing cult following as their music has found its way to a new generation of fans - tracks from Day and Night have been gradually populating NTS playlists, while their eponymous debut was reissued by World of Echo (that's us!) in 2023. All physical formats come with a new booklet designed by Kate Wright, from the band, with captions and images from her archives alongside brand new liner notes by Stephen McRobbie (The Pastels).
Alongside standard CD and LP pressings, and exclusive edition is also available with limited edition bonus 7" featuring previously unreleased track 'Phonograpoh Space' and B-side 'Marine Océano', available only via World of Echo, Domino Mart and Monorail in an edition of 350.
