Back to the squats we go with this one-sided 12" reissue of Dominant Parti's single three track demo from 1983. From Luton and closely aligned with anarcho collective Karma Sutra, Dominant Patri were a blink and you'll miss 'em outfit who played just 15 or so gigs but still existed long enough to contribute what to me sounds like a classic example of UK79-styled peace punk. Experiment is probably the wider known cut, and like closer Death of Thomas, fits the anarcho template perfectly: traded male/female vocals, metallic guitar stabs, bouncing bass and machine gun drumming all present and correct. Icons of Flith, Toxic Waste, Conflict et al - you've heard it before even if you've not heard it before, and you'll gladly relight and relight again. But the real headline here is the title track, a slower-paced anti-war missive that retains the gang mentality but seems to make overtures to goth (somewhere between DIJ's Burial, ironically enough, and TIB-era Cure) as much as it does Mick Jones (the similarity in intonation is inescapable). In doing so, becomes it's own convention-busting anarcho anthem.
