Unexpected second record from the great Parisian (formerly three-, now-) four piece, a group i thought had disbanded a while back but i'm glad to see have kept the car running. The self-titled debut from 2018 was an addicting combination of Rosa Yemen atonality and gentle Electrelane-styled motorik, an approach they mostly continue to pursue here, though with much cleaner production and a slightly more skilled performance. Group chant vocals, chiming and klanging guitars, and what sounds like some Bobby Gillespie stand-up primitive drum work - a lot of the key ingredients for success right there. Mostly, though, there's a charming DIY sensibility to the whole affair, a lovely mix of melodic nous and probing at the edge of their craft, reminding me an awful lot of that Value Void record from a few years back. Limited as ever, each with slightly different cover art.
