Plus Instruments - Februari - April 81'

Plus Instruments were an Eindhoven-NYC spanning trio, featuring what must have been a very young Lee Ranaldo, alongside David Linton, and group leader/vocalist, Truus de Groot. As its time-stamped title might tell you, this is music that captures well the underground concerns of its era, uniting the free-thinking spontonaeity of No Wave with the more linear electronic structures of European synth music. Plus Instruments spent some time on the famed German imprint, Zickzack, and that along with its US connections provides the perfect shorthand for the kind of energy the trio channel - Neue Deutsche Welle meets No New York, in essence. like Nasmak on a Bush Tetras tear. It's no bad place to find yourself, transgressive, alien, unafraid to sound a bit wrong. And sounding wrong still, some 41 years after the fact, is no mean feat. Time's not shaved the edge off this one one bit. Amen to that.
