Best of Year 2019
Strong classic Touch & Go feel to Deliluh’s second long player, and first for Tin Angel, the same people behind all that Crack Cloud business. Fellow Canadians (Toronto in fact), this lot share more than a country with CC - post-punk art rock par excellence is the order of the day. The principle difference, however, is that where Crack Cloud are turned up skronk and fury, Deliluh dial it back just a touch, channeling the isolationist weirdo spirit of Slint and more than a little of Thurston Moore’s beat poet Richard Hell-ism’s. I’m quite surprised this didn’t find a home on Constellation tbqh (right alongside Ought, who are a good comparison if you were to replace their channelling of Talking Heads with No Wave), which should tell you enough about it’s lofty but charismatic art orientation. Funny how stuff like this turns up on a label based in Coventry. The world’s too big, or it’s too small.
