7" lathe-cut - see also CJA
Pair of lineage-extending, knock-out 7" lathes from killer NZ outpost NO that show the torch for a particular type of alien lo-fi sound from that part of the world remains ferociously undimmed. If you have a penchant for this kind of thing, then you'll already be well acquainted with CJA, the long-standing pseudonym of Clayton Noone, also of Futurians, Strange Girls, Armpit ++. While My Garden Gently Hums is another sterling edition to an already formidable catalogue, four short-form missives of golden static, mournful strings & loops, and spoken word poetics that's as affecting as it is subtle in a way that might remind you of the more avant-minded aspects of Maxine Funke or Warm Currency. Uniform, a seemingly much newer five-piece outfit of which only two members apparently play any instruments, channel something a little rougher around the edges. Joan St High Tide feels conceived in the image of the great Helen Johnstone - think the kind of dream-laced, feedback-drenched guitar romanticism characteristically transmitted by the the likes of the Garbage and the Flowers, Entlang and The Dress (side point - found a few copies of that amazing EP just recently if you're still keen to investigate) and you'll not be too far off track. Pure mysterious sounds from the land that does it best. Super low editions of 40 that stay true to the tradition.
