Initially released as a four LP box set, titles now available separately.
R/M/H/Q were first released as a four LP boxset by Grapefruit back in - bloody hell! - 2020, and here we have them as four individual discs which you can choose to buy separately should you not wanna commit to the full baptism. What an undertaking this was. Across their billions of minutes of weeping guitar wonder they document the restless creative enterprise of Montgomery, providing a long form means of tracing both his urgent and inventive playing, as well his sometimes overshadowed ability to coin a killer tune. There's a lot of music here, all considered new on first release. It still feels much the same now, because there's so much group being covered here - noisy Roy; elegiac Roy; melodic Roy; raging into the void/romanticising the Eternal Roy. But all Roy and wholly and singularly Roy. We should be so lucky. And let's be honest, you will need all of these, but if you're treading tentatively, start at the top and sink in. It's a blissful way to drown.
