The best named label in the land dig into the Eyes of the Amaryllis universe for these latest two tapes of nocturnal mulch and potash from a couple of their core members. Jesse Dewlow's People Skills require no introduction around here and Subalternity Interlude is another welcome collection of backwater dwelling lo-fi murk that feels like it's spent a good amount of time digging through the soil just to record its organic vibrations. This one's entirely instrumental - so none of those Sebadoh-in-an-armored-car 4-track anti-anthems that have cropped up on previous records this time - Dewlow indulging a love for both long and short form minimal electronics and guitar expulsions that's halfway split between Nu Gothenburg avant shenanigans, NZ noise, and cassette underground network oddness. All highlights here (and especially so the melancholic reverberation of 'Polymer' and droney hypnotism of the 17 min long opener, 'The Transparency of Evil'), should probably be on record tbh, but for now this does the job just so. Speaking of the cassette underground network, our second Regional Bears tape unites EotA's Jm Strong with Sound of Pig don Al Margolis for two sides of spooked and droning musique concreting. The vibes are turned up to 'sinister' throughout, all windy minimalism, creaky ambiance, and ghosts in the pipes. Wait for the fall of dark, turn this one up loud and start fearing the worst.
