A connection from the out of the blue, warmly received and able to blossom into being.
Edouard-Marc is a French artist, based in the Montagne Noir.
He has previously worked in duo form as blue noir and in a trio with Gustave Retour & Konalgad. Both excellent studies in abstracted electronics, released in small homespun batches of cassettes.
There is a kind of dark pastoralism, a twilight kosmiche, at work in neuf unités formant dix. Most immediately, I hear something of the bubbling and poppling of the early Cluster LP's in EM's work.
An accomplished photographer and visual artist in his own right, the pieces of neuf unités formant dix appear as an extension of this kind of documenting and world-building.
There are brief wisps of voice, but this is largely an arcane smoke conjured by machines. Edouard's music is more a natural thermal spring, calmly breathing vapour, than any crude smokestack belching out waste.
