CASH IN THE ATTIC! Thanks to Kate Wright and Matt Jones for passing on some of the gold hiding away in their archives, providing us with some long out of print copies of the first and fourth Crescent records. As with everything from the late 90s Bristol scene, Crescent has only improved with time, and there's a thrilling arc to trace from the lo-fi gee-tar squall and electronic experimentations of Now to the bucolic, folk-derived micro-symphony confessionals of By the Roads and the Fields, the latter a perfect accompaniment to Movietone's flawless The Blossom Filled Streets. When you look back at it, this really was a golden period for British music, and the music Crescent made was as endemic to these isles as any other i can think of.
