Tan Mein Herz fella, Pierre Bujeau, debuts as Megabasse for 80 minutes of inverted spiral guitar hypnosis. And there is great commitment to the cause, Bujeau starting in one place and pretty much staying put for the duration, a cyclical construction of chiming guitar that appears to adhere to two distinct perspectives: the emotional redolence of Vini Reilly's bedroom-situated minimalism and the Cageian philosophy of repetition - if something is boring for two minutes, do it for four minutes, and if it's boring for four minutes, do it for eight minutes and so forth ad infinitum until you reach epiphanous rapture. And please don't misunderstand, nothing is boring here. It says a lot for Chandelle that even at 80 minutes long it feels cut short, almost ASMR-like in its repeat phrase escapism, a Lilliputian lullaby extended out into an inwardly gazing forever. The kind of music you can live inside, or should i say, live with outside of everything else. Bold and beautiful business.
