More reliable output from the Experiences camp with the debut album from UK-based Latvian producer, Artur Strekalov. Fans of the decayed electronic ambience cultivated by Ulla and Heurco S' West Mineral imprint will be delighted by Let Me Put Myself Together, a record both very much typical of that sound and simultaneously an impressive example of how great it can be when executed this well. It probably speaks to a greater malaise/cultural mindset that it's increasingly thrilling to hear the incongruous rendering of nature in technology and vice versa, the natural world and the human hand caught amidst digital static and glitch. Of course, people like Oval, and the Chain Reaction and Mille Plateaux set were pushing this approach decades ago, but it does feel particularly resonant and vital now, some kind of techno-ambient sonic utopia into which we can retreat. If that sounds a bit much, forgive me the indulgence, it's been quite the year, let's stand in the light a little longer. Experiences releases are usually buy-on-sight pieces, and Let Me Put Myself Together is no exception in that regard, but it's also quite a bit more than the product of its associations. Of course this is super limited as per, apologies to anyone who misses out. Worth investigating however you consume it.
