The artist otherwise known as St Agnis debuts under her own name for an unexpected collection of warped folk transgressions for John T Gast's 5 Gate Temple label. This represents quite the detour - God Spill is a genuinely hypnotic trip into lesser explored territory for Mingot, picking up the classical guitar and winding it into something glitchy and disorientating, a selection of eerie figures that conceptually suggest a kinship with the usual experimental abstractions of 5GT, but aesthetically resemble something a little different, making nods to the ghostly song of fellow New York Dagmar Zuniga as well as drawing a through line to the outre transgressions of the European underground (if this had turned up on Discreet, you'd not be surprised and would perhaps even consider it amongst their recent best). The change in name might through a few people off the scent here, but this one's a stone cold keeper - been in solid rotation here since its arrival. Why deny yourself those same enjoyments?
