Long hot summer ‘vibes’ (yes, vibes) on Wilson Tanner’s second record on the ever-reliable Efficient Space (Sky Girl, Karen Marks). Recorded on a 1950s riverboat equipped with an array of, you’ll be glad to hear, waterproof electronics, this is a heady, hot and languid set that fits its genesis perfectly. Nothing is happening quickly (or loudly for that matter) here and that suits us just fine amidst this weird heat. And that smoking duck on the cover is just about the coolest guy I’ve seen all summer. Easy breezy ambient fare with a little style and a little laugh. Can’t beat it.
