Long-time coming reissue of Terry Riley's grailed debut from 67, originally released on Mass Art. It's remarkable to consider just how long ago this was made now, over half-a-century old and likely as powerful and relevant as ever. Trance by any other name... Riley would later expand on these ideas, and i understand some of this material was re-imagined on In C, but there's something extra engaging to this early work, mostly because there's that sense of ideas forming, of a new discipline emerging, or at least a direction being established. Still getting to grips with this inner-world magic now. True greatness (which maybe i say a lot, but here i really mean it, man).
