Nusidm - The Last Temptation of Thrill

New (to me, at least) project from Cured Pink/Kitchen Floor dignitary, Glen Schenau, crossing hemispheres for this first-time appearance on Paris-based imprint, Bruit Direct Disques. It fits the stable's long-running interests in outer-edge post-punk/DIY sounds well, no great surprise, really, given Schenau's previous. In fact, The Last Temptation of Thrill is a proper burner, a splattered mix of mutant pop-industrial murmurmings, avant dub gesticulations and atonal klang 'n' bang soldered together with an oddly compelling sloppiness that mostly suggests the Austra-Euro underground alliance is a real one. Think Witness K (also former Cured Pink members), a more disjointed Exek, second album and thoroughly debased Liars, Severed Heads before the songs (not a diss) and so and so forth. The B side, in particular, gets particularly messy, that very DIY spirit of letting all the shit hit the fan and revelling in what happens. Lovely stuff. The campaign for real incoherence continues apace.
