And so back to the many tentacled arm of the Dead C we return for this first time collaboration between Michael Morley and the equally prolific French writer/label boss/celebrated noise guitarist, Michael Henritzi. Given the histroy of each, it's somewhat of a surprise it's taken them this long. Mirrors is somewhere close to providing what you might expect from the uniting of two such titans of de-codified guitar noise music, a tension-laced smog of distortion and swirling white noise inflections that seem to constantly hover just above the point of detonation, just how i imagined many of those various Conors/Licht/Haino/Moore collaborations might have sounded were they to have put not one but two feet into the void. Here, the world ends not so much with a bang, but the sustained suggestion of such, teetering on the edge of the storm that never quite comes yet will never leave. The inevitable inevitable. All told, it's a pretty apt metaphor for these end times (The Climate Is Dead and all that), except at least when Mirrors reaches its end, you can flip it over and start again.
