Last few copies of the 2018 single disc pressing of Elaine Radigue's astonishing explorations into minimalism, early drone and musique concrete. What you might consider the foundational text, as important in its sphere as the more celebrated names of Reich, Riley et al, and certainly a huge forebearer to much of the work around minimal composition explored by the downtown NYC set in the 80s. Radigue recorded a series of great records for Lovely Music in the 80s, working closely with Robert Ashley and Maggi Payne, which makes it all the more incredible this music was being imagined and realised some 15+ years prior to that. I understand her work took on a more overtly spiritual bent later down the line, but that's no surprise on listening to these early recordings, which do possess a still and restrained mantra like quality. Yes yes, another KEY FOUNDATIONAL TEXT (and a reminder i need to get that slogan on a t shirt still).
