Total Thomas Bush immersion! Another week and another appearance from the man, this time in relative short form, providing guest vocals for a Fergus Jones production on his FELT imprint. Apparently, it’s the first time Jones has appeared on his own label, and he’s made a fine choice for this debut, a 7” of two short and sweet alternative mixes of the same track that position the pair in that post-Dean Blunt/CPN+ universe of melodic, avant-dub-pop song craft, driven by a circular guitar riff and lolloping drum machine beat, and framed by Bush’s characteristically mordant vocal stylings (which sound increasingly like a far less psycho-sexual-damaged early Jhonn Balance to me, as misleading as that might potentially be). If it weren’t the fact that there seems to be a new Bush record every week at the moment, I’d be cursing the brevity of what’s available here. As it is, we’ve further evidence of an artist who seems utterly opposed to sleep and using all that freed up time to embark on a creative tear. Lap it up while you can.
