Will Long is on a bit of a tear this year. Having released his first album in half a decade at the end of January, a dbl disc set of supremely immersive minimal house that blew the doors off the start of the tear, he's back with a two-track 12" of similarly framed long-cuts that position him as one of the most classy producers at it right now. Presented as a tribute to Steve Biko, the anti-apartheid activist savagely beaten to death by the police, there's an an obvious emotional weight to these shimmering, ambient-techno dubs that displays obvious kinship to long-term affiliate Terre Thaemlitz, as well as the early forays of Matthew Herbert (think a more stripped 100lbs). Expert production, right-on sentiment - masterclass in movement and the moving.
