Cracking debut from Ukrainian three-piece TVii Son, who turn out exemplary dub-touched, punchy electro with a deeply infectious quality. I'm seeing others refer to this as 'industrial pop', which is understandable although perhaps a little slight (pop is a weirdly meaningless word), though it does have that kind of sharp-minded immediacy that someone like Weatherall would have been all over, not unlike parts of Radioactive Man and you can bet it have made one of those NTS shows. What elevates this for me are the vocal turns of Lucy Zoria, who has a delivery that's kissed with the same kind of confidence and personality that made Glass Candy first leap out of the speakers all those years back, matched by production as on point in its world as Johnny Jewel's is. Those who wanna go further back can throw in Chris & Cosey, New Age Steppers' Private Armies, Adrian Sherwood... You know, only the good stuff. No surprise to hear this picking up some radio coverage, and equally encouraging, too. Can see this becoming very popular...
