If 80s Japan is your god (and let's be honest, it is), here's your sacred text. Yen was an Alfa sub-label helmed by Haroumi Hosono and Yukihiro Takahashi, whom produced most of the records they released. So it goes that after the label's director died, they pieced together this compilation in memorial, collecting together 17 remixed/rare tracks from across the roster. If you're au fait with YMO then you'll be switched on by this - what you get is a careering journey through their distinctive interpolation of synthpop, boogie, funk and exotica. I'm assuming this was a Yen swansong, as the label folded the same year. And I'm going to also assume this is pretty much the only place you can get most of these songs/versions. Impressive photo for the gatefold too. Bit of a steal this one.
