Cassette
Prolific Danish tape label Forlaget Kornmod introduce offshoot imprint, Kaos og Stjernen, with three cassettes that further dive into Scandinavia's fecund ambient underground. Why the crew at Forlaget Kornmod felt the need for another outlet for this stuff remains a mystery to me, fitting so well as it does already into the context they've created - we're very much riding the ambient-folk-field recordings axis here, while Dagsrejse is the latest pseudonym to be adopted by long term FK associate, Sebastian Bruun. Whatever their thinking, their ears nonetheless remain in fine working order. The aforementioned Dagsrejse tape sees Bruun take on infinite-horizon drone-based ambience that's as static-rich and blissful as Ravedeath-era Hecker, while J. Folke opts for a more new age inclined serenity that's experiments with the zither suggest some time spent around the Kankyo Ongaku boxset. Best of the lot is the uncredited Som støj collection, bringing together a series of cryptically arranged field recordings in a way that draws to mind the sinister quietude of Korea Undok Group's ambient-concrete, made all the more compelling for retaining its anonymity.
Tapes come with hand-made sleeves, in second-hand pre-loved tape boxes.
