Belgian musicians Annelies Monseré and Goldscammer unite for an unexpected set of re-interpretations of tracks culled from the former's catalogue. Fans will likely recognise most of these songs, for the versions the pair perform do not deviate much from their original form. More so, there is the addition of a second voice, and an increased move towards the intimate and immediate, the sound of two artists in symbiosis, reaching their arms together around a song to see what they can pull from it. Monseré's work is ostensibly folk-oriented, and that's what their practice here signifies also, the sharing of a union, of a song, of a feeling and truth. These nine renditions affirm the adage - it's the singer, not the song.
