Leda - Music for A Film

More blasted and metallic drone work from Neutral's Sofie Herner under her Leda guise. These six tracks were written for an 'interactive' art film called Dödfött about 'failed online karate and caducity', the relationship between which i'll not try to guess at. But don't let that stop you, though. That said, there's a transitory quality to Herner's compositions, moving instinctually through repetitious structures that slowly shift in shape, hard to pin down, the end far removed from the start. The song titles make some kind of passing allusion to age and the passing of time, and it all feels like a very neatly realised concept, even if the music itself is abrasive, dissonant, and a little anxiety-inducing. Perhaps the film reveals hidden depths in the music, but it's not needed to appreciate Herner's engaging compositional intuition.
