Dbl cassette
Count them, 10 new tapes from Jonas Tortensen's outrageously prolific Afvikling label, all seemingly hand-dubbed and assembled (remarkably so for someone with impaired vision) with super distinctive artwork and featuring a range of artists from an interconnected circle of underground Scandinavian music. Far too much here to discuss it all individually (check each product upload on the website for the specifics), but know there's something very unique and arresting being worked out here, mostly skirting the intersecting edges of lo-fi, post-industrial, noise, experimental electronics, slowcore and ambient with a particular sense of grain and decay. There's a few outliers, too, exploring bedroom beats and coldwave aesthetics, as if to defy the kind of pigeonholing i'm usually guilty of. A true labour of love, as DIY as it gets, and, truly a supremely bold display of i'll-do-whatever-i-feel self-determinism. Has to be one of the great undersung creative endeavours out there right now. Get on it before people like me ruin it.
