Best of Year 2019
And here it is on vinyl, not a moment too soon. And still one of the albums of the year. There's a reason why all and sundry have been getting excited about this - I paraphrase, but I believe the Wire described this as the emergence of a vital new voice. This is emotional, spiritually inclined, political jazz (there really should be no other kind) that feels like it belongs to another time. But it doesn't - this is happening right now! There's something special happening in and around Chicago currently, and it's not surprising this is being released by the same label that gave us Makaya McCraven, Damon Locks, and that new Jaimie Branch record. This is going to be near the top of all end of year lists and rightfully so.
