Angel Bat Dawid has contributed mix number eight to the World of Echo Inner World series.
World of Echo watchers will already be closely familiar with Angel Bat Dawid, the Chicago-based artist resposibly for last years lightning bolt insta-classic debut, The Oracle, and more recently, the excellent Transition East single which we were fortunate to be able stock as an exclusive. The mix turned in here came with the title "Songs on my Walkman: Soundtrack of a teenage Angel Bat Dawid", and may offer some surprises for those only familiar with Dawid's recorded output. If you've witnessed the live show, this will make more sense, where the band Dawid leads lifts off from the Sun Ra/Pharoah roots of the records and into a fantasia of genre splicing that touches on hip hop, funk, avant-soul and, ultimately, becomes something totally itself. With this mix, Angel seems to be showing us where it all originated from. Bliss to reminisce? I wouldn't mind those teenage years again.
