The release of No Age's latest record (and eighth in total), Goons Be Gone, was a timely reminder of not only how good they can be, but also reflected something always evident from first discovery of their music: astute taste. One of No Age's immediately great qualities was how their songs often sounded like the product of immaculate record collections, a record store jumble of wild, infectious enthusiasm and sharp taste. Goons Be Gone does a nice job of honing in on that spirit once again, and so it feels fitting to have them contribute to the Inner World series. A perfectly messy sprawl of genre, mood and fidelity. Dive deep. And then go listen to Goons Be Gone.
