World of Echo presents... Inner World 004 - RVNG Intl. 'A Journey to Out'
A privilege to announce that Phil Tortoroli at RVNG Intl. has provided the fourth installment in our Inner World mix series. RVNG stands as both a pillar and a totem of the American experimental music community, and in many respects as a sensibility in itself. Consistently ahead of the curve, I don't think it's an exaggeration to consider the label integral in shaping certain contemporary understandings and interests in electronic music. The re-emergence/re-popularisation of new age, ambient and explorative electronic aesthetics owes a considerable debt to the RVNG stable, be that via their choice reissue projects & collaborations (Craig Leon, Suzanne Ciani, Laaraji et al) or wealth of new voices which are always both unexpected and necessary. This hour long mix does much the same work, guiding the listener down untrodden paths and hidden avenues, a cerebral but beautiful experience. The inner sound from far out....
About the mix
"Charting different listens during NY's stay inside order, ranging from Bandcamp purchases, field recordings, and forthcoming material from the RVNG universe(s). Maybe this mix charts a feeling during lockdown, but those feelings aren't fully formed yet. A listen through minimal percussion, mellow / ecstatic voice, Bart Simpson, and hope amongst uncertainty." - Phil Tortoroli, May 2020
